The overlapping “Kumquats” pattern with its pointy edges was loosely based on Lois Mailou Jones’ early tropical textiles from the 1930s. We had a small, miraculous kumquat tree in the Block Shop parking lot which inspired us to find beauty in the mundane, and we launched a series of patterns and prints in homage. This nighttime colorway is our more alluring, moodier riff on the beloved citrus pattern.
